Alu tama is a traditional Nepalese soup prepared with bamboo shoots and potatoes as key ingredients. The usage of bamboo shoots makes the soup quite unusual and unique in flavor, which is the reason why the soup is so appealing to many people. The soup is additionally flavored with onions, chilis, cumin, garlic, ginger, turmeric, pepper, and yogurt. It can be served on its own or with rice, and it is recommended to garnish it with finely chopped coriander.
