01 / ABOUT THE DISH
Susumelli are traditional Italian cookies originating from Abruzzo. They're typically made for the festive Christmas season. The cookies are made from a combination of flour, sugar, olive oil, white wine, and grape jam. The dough is shaped into horseshoes and it's then filled with a line of jam down the center. Susumelli are baked until golden, then sprinkled with icing sugar as soon as they're out of the oven. Don't confuse them with Calabrian Christmas cookies known as susumelle .
